CONFLICT
Conflict is something that all people are forced to deal with every day. Learning how to handle conflict is especially hard for children. I chose fifth grade students, because I feel as though this is an age where children often become especially cliquey. I chose to begin with the Civil War because it is something students are familiar with. They can see how people of the past chose to handle a huge conflict, practice ways to solve this conflict through writings and discussions, solve their own classroom conflict through a debate, and relate this back to their own conflicts through art.
